Vyvyan Reding, much like her namesake from the
anarchic 1980s UK sitcom is making lots of noise and threatening all sorts of violence. However it looks like she might ultimately face the same fate befell her namesake – extreme pain to herself.
The Financial Times is reporting that EU heavyweights Peter Mandelson and Günter Verheugen are saying she is going too far. I’m never come across the Verheugen, but Mandelson is definitely expert is art of silent deadly political assassinations. This comment only relates to EU roaming charges and is before the creation of the EU Spectrum Agency and the threat of breaking up all national PTT’s.
I sense a tantrum coming along and the exit of Ms Reding from the EU Telecoms Scene.
